Kyle Williams is the Head of Government Relations at OppLoans, a fintech platform that partners with FDIC-regulated banks to help middle-income, credit-challenged consumers reach the financial mainstream. In this role, Kyle works closely with federal lawmakers and other key stakeholders to ensure consumers have access to affordable small dollar loan products with strong consumer protection guardrails. Prior to his work at OppLoans, Kyle led the National Urban League’s Federal Financial Services Policy portfolio, for six-years. Here, Kyle fought to ensure underserved communities had access to responsible financial services, products and jobs in the industry. Kyle also served as a Legislative Assistant and personal office Committee Staffer for his hometown, Congresswoman, the Honorable Marcia L. Fudge (D-OH), leading her financial services and labor policy portfolios, for 3 years. He also served as a Federal Policy Analyst for the former Governor of Ohio, Ted Strickland (D), in his Washington, DC office. Kyle’s first jobs out of college were in the financial services industry, where he served as a Senior Underwriter for MBNA America and as a Mortgage Broker at Allied Home Mortgage Capital Corporation. Born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio, Kyle earned his undergraduate degree from Ohio University with honors and his law degree from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law. Kyle is licensed to practice law in the State of Ohio. He and his wife Katie and their 2-year old son live in Washington, DC.
